The word, "Wedding" comes from the Greek word which means pledge, and this is exactly what a wedding is no matter what country or where it takes place. To “wed” is to pledge yourself to another person. There are only few acts we perform that are more pure and beautiful than the act of marriage.
Many of today's popular wedding ceremony and reception traditions can be traced to ancient Egyptian and European customs. These were often based on symbolism, superstition, folklore, religion, and even the belief that evil spirits could bring disease and death to newlyweds and crops, which was very important in many farm-based early cultures. Although the exact origin and usefulness of many of these early wedding traditions are not always clear, popular acceptance has allowed them to flourish. Besides, many of these wedding traditions are just plain fun!
According to various sources, some of the early marriages were literally carried out by the Groom and his "Bridesmen" who would kidnap a woman (the origin of "carrying a Bride over the threshold") from another tribe! The Groom and his fellow conspirators would then fight off the female's family of tribesmen with swords held in their right hand while the Groom would hold the captured Bride in his left hand, which is the origin of why a Bride stands on the left side of the Groom at a wedding.

Enjoy reading yourself. If your child often sees you with a book in your hands, he will be more likely to read simply by your example.

Before your child is old enough to read for himself, cultivate a love of books by reading aloud to him. This is also a good time to teach proper book care! (“We turn the pages carefully,” etc.)

Start at a low reading level that will be easy for your child. You can gradually bring him to a higher level as his confidence and interest in reading increases.

Begin reading a book aloud, or read parts of it aloud, to pique your child’s interest in the story. He just might decide to finish the book himself!

What does your child enjoy doing or talking about? Tailor your book recommendations to suit his interests. Even a child who has difficulty reading is likely to persevere if the book holds his attention.

When your child has read and enjoyed a book, find similar books to suggest to him, or books by the same author. (“If you liked that book, you might like this one, too!)

Take your child book shopping with you, and let him choose some books that he thinks he would enjoy. Thrift stores often have a good selection of low priced books for children and young readers.

Be extreme: turn off or limit tv/video games/computer games. These things are giant pulls away from reading! Don’t however, say “No more tv until you read this book!”--that’s a sure way to make your child view reading as drudgery!

You can use movies or computer games to your advantage. Encourage your child to read the book or story a movie was based on, or other similar books.

Herbal Steam

This is a great treatment to eliminate toxins. Steam your face over a bowl of hot water combined with a handful each of fresh cilantro and basil leaves, steaming for about 10 minutes. Hold your face at least 12 inches above the water and tent your head and the bowl with a towel to prevent the steam from escaping. Pat your face dry and splash with tepid water to refresh the skin. Discard the herbs. To purify the rest of the body, run a hot shower to fill the room with steam, and relax in the steam for seven to 10 minutes.

Lepa Mask

“Lepa” translates as “medicinal plaster.” This mask absorbs impurities. In a large bowl, combine 2 teaspoons each sandalwood powder, natural clay powder (available at natural-foods stores), a pinch of ground turmeric, 1 teaspoon neem oil, and 1/4 cup fresh orange juice. Mix thoroughly and apply all over the face and neck, avoiding the eyes. Leave the mask on for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

MoisturizerAloe

is an ideal ingredient in pitta-balancing skin treatments because it provides light moisture and creates a wonderful soothing sensation. Massage your face and body with aloe vera gel to soften and refresh your skin.

Coconut and Flower Hair Oil

Oiling your hair is the most important part of Ayurvedic hair care. It conditions the hair and scalp and promotes relaxation. Prepare the oil the night before by bringing 1/2 cup coconut oil to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons rose water and 1/2 cup mixed fresh flower petals such as rose or jasmine. Return to a boil and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat. Let the flowers steep in the oil overnight, then strain the oil through a coffee filter or double layer of cheesecloth into an airtight container. To oil your hair, gently massage four to five tablespoons of the oil onto the crown of your head and into your scalp. Wrap hair in a towel and allow the oils to penetrate for at least 20 minutes. Shampoo and rinse as usual.

Nourishing Hair Mask

A protein-rich mask helps to strengthen hair. In a medium-sized bowl, thoroughly combine 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and 1 egg. Apply the mixture to your scalp after oiling and cleansing. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Who Is The Easter Bunny?

The Easter Bunny is a mythical character depicted as an anthropomorphic rabbit. In legend, the creature brings baskets filled with colored eggs, candy and toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter. The Easter Bunny will either put the baskets in a designated place or hide them somewhere in the house for the children to find when they wake up in the morning. The Easter Bunny is very similar in trait to its Christmas holiday counterpart, Santa Claus, as they both bring gifts to good children on the night before their respective holiday. Its origin is disputed but the character was mentioned as early as 1600; some trace it to alleged pre-Christian fertility lore others to the role of the hare in Christian iconography.

The Easter Bunny as an Easter symbol seems to have its origins in Alsace and southwestern Germany, where it was first mentioned in German writings in the 1600s. The first edible Easter Bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800s, and were made of pastry and sugar.
The Easter Bunny was introduced to America by the German settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the 1700s. The arrival of the "Oschter Haws" (a phonetic transcription of the German Osterhase was considered one of "childhood's greatest pleasure," similar to the arrival of Kris Kringle (from the German Christkindl) on Christmas Eve.
According to the tradition, children would build brightly colored nests, often out of caps and bonnets, in secluded areas of their homes. The Oschter Haws would, if the children had been good, lay brightly colored eggs in the nest. As the tradition spread, the nest has become the manufactured, modern Easter basket, and the placing of the nest in a secluded area has become the tradition of hiding baskets.

1. Bike, use public transit, carpool to work, drive slower, keep your tires inflated
